Is there any way to copy a folder (including the variables) either within Director or from the OS?

Thanks
Chris

Going to need a bit more information on this. GADirector can copy/move/delete folders and files. Can you give us an example of what it is you're trying to accomplish? Which Folders, etc?

Ah - yes - sorry... I was a bit vague wasn't I.

I mean can I copy a project folder. I have a folder where I am developing my projects and I want to copy that to create a test area - but I need to copy all of the folder variables as well. At the moment to create a test area I have to create a new folder withing the Director GUI then manually create every variable.

Thanks
Chris

Chris,

The GoAnywhere Director 4.6 release is due to go live in the next day or so. Among it's abundance of new features are some improvements to project exporting. We added the ability to export multiple Projects into a ZIP file. During the export process, you will be able to choose whether or not to include the folder description, folder variables and any subfolders. The resulting ZIP file can then be imported into another installation of GoAnywhere Director.

This should give you what you are looking for. I will make sure you get notified once the new release is available for download.

Thanks - Jon

Although you should receive a formal notification in the days to come, I wanted to let you know it has been published and is now available. Login to GoAnywhere and go to Administration > Check for Updates and download the upgrade file and related documentation.

Thanks - Jon

Hi Jon,

I've tested this and it doesn't quite give me what I am after. I can't seem to rename the folder on import. Is that possible at all?

Our Dev and Test is on the same server. I want to export my DEV folder and then import it as TEST

Chris,

There is no rename option on import offered which is similar to copying a folder on some file systems. Your best bet is to import the DEV folder to your test environment and then just edit the folder and rename it to TEST.

Thanks - Jon
