GoAnywhere can connect to network shares. However, in order for this to work, you must first customize the GoAnywhere Windows Service that is created at the time of installation. Below are the instructions to customize the service:

Let us say, you have GoAnywhere installed on Box A and want to access shared files that are sitting on Box B.
  • Create a user called goanywhere on Box B. Set the password to goanywhere1. Edit the shared folders so the newly created user goanywhere has permissions (Read or Read/Write) on the shared folders.
  • Create a user called goanywhere on Box A (where GoAnywhere is installed) and setup the password to goanywhere1.
  • The user name and password need not be goanywhere and goanywhere1, but it is important that the user names must exactly match each other and the passwords must exactly match each other on both boxes.
  • Open the Windows Services from Control Panel on Box A.
  • Stop the GoAnywhere Service.
  • Double click on the GoAnywhere Service to edit the properties.
  • In the Log On tab, you will notice is that GoAnywhere is setup to use the Local System account. This is how the service gets created at the time of install. The Local System account cannot access any network shares (this is a Windows restriction).
  • Select the radio button labeled, This Account and specify goanywhere and goanywhere1 for the user name and password fields. (if you used a different user name and password in steps 1 & 2, specify those values).
  • Click on OK to save the changes
  • Start the GoAnywhere service.

You should now be able to access network shares as long as the user you are running the service under has permissions on the network shares.
