Request and start GA workflow using rest API

Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to drive a workflow in GA using a rest API.
I have one workflow to connect and download files from SFTP server and i would like to give a powershell script to user's witch they can start this workflow and specify their own user and password to connect to the SFTP server?
I thinks it's possible with GAcmd but I prefer not using it.
Does anyone already do that?
