Setting up a new Resource MFT Server

Post by Barb_Texas »

Hi, I am an admin user on our new MFT server , as well as our Production GoAnywhere server. I am trying to set up a new MFT Server resource on our production Goanywhere server so that I can transfer files from one to another.
Using the HELP example, on the resource basic tab, I completed just name, host, post, user, password, using my userid and password that allows me to log into the new MFT Server.
as host 204.67.192.16, port 8001
when testing the result:
Loading GoAnywhere connection information
Connecting to '204.67.192.16' on port '8001'
Unexpected end of file from server

We want to use port 2222, so I changed it to port 2222
When testing the result:
Loading GoAnywhere connection information
Connecting to '204.67.192.16' on port '2222'
Successfully established a connection to the server, but either the server is running a version of GoAnywhere prior to 2.0 [it is 5.2.4] or the Context URL is incorrect.
The connection was successful but the username/password was not validated.
Disconnecting from server.

When I change it to the server name as host, port '2222'
The test:
Loading GoAnywhere connection information
Connecting to 'oagcs4sv-vmft1' on port '2222'.
Successfully established a connection to the server, but either the server is running a version of GoAnywhere prior to 2.0 [it is 5.2.4] or the Context URL is incorrect.
The connection was successful but the username/password was not validated.
Disconnecting from server.

Should it allow me to use my admin userid to set up the MFT Goanywhere Server resource?
Thank you,
Barb

Barb,

First ... defining a resource in GAMFT is for communicating internally/externally to servers, not back to the Admin Listener for GAMFT (port 8001)
With that being said, if you're connecting to your HTTPS listener, you would connect directly to (by default) port 443. Connecting to your SFTP listener (by default) would be port 22.

These values are defined in the Service Manager Listener for the respective protocols.

To answer your final question, no ... you cannot connect to the Web User defined for communication using your Admin UserID/Password. You could have matching Admin and Web user accounts with identical password validations, but they are still mutually exclusive when it comes to connections and access.

Not yet, a lot of prototyping going on. We've wiped our new server clean of users, projects, triggers, etc in order to clean up some links that aren't allowing our promotions to work. This will be an ongoing process. :) thanks again.
