Overview
What to do with the Error: Failed to decrypt the password specified for attribute 'password' in element 'sql'
Environment
GoAnywhere MFT - all versions
Resolution
This error may present when a SQL resource is utilized in a project and that project has an override on the SQL task in the Database Server dropdown.
GoAnywhere now requires encryption on the passwords. Legacy connections may not have been encrypted, but as soon as the resource has any modifications done to it, even though it was not the password, GoAnywhere will modify that resource to encrypt it. This can cause the fields that are filled out in the Database Server dropdown to throw this error.
To resolve this just utilize the resource connection directly and do not use an override user on the project SQL task level.
