Web users locked out, incorrect password

Hello fellow GoAnywhere users!
I would like to have something clarified, that I can't seem find in the documentation.

We're having problems with web users being disabled because they have entered the wrong password n times.
These users are all (Active Directory) Domain Users and are authenticated with their domain credentials.
They also have the Outlook plugin installed.

Our domain policy forces users to change their password every 60 days, which is the root of our problem.
Several users report that they can't use the Outlook plugin, or login on the GoAnywhere website, anymore after changing their password.
When I check this out, I find their accounts disabled and in the logs I see they've entered the wrong password multiple times.

So, I have 2 questions:
1) When first using the Outlook plugin, people have to manually authenticate with their domain credentials. Are these credentials automatically updated after changing their password? Or do they have to manually enter these credentials again?
2) When GoAnywhere services syncs domain accounts, does it sync the new passwords as well?

Thanks for reading!

Cheers,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Since the Secure Mail Plugin / Add-In for MS Outlook uses the web user account to send mail, whenever the password for this account changes, the settings for the plugin must be changed also. This is regardless of authentication method.

Changing the Secure Mail Plugin password is simple. Just click Secure Mail Options button at the top of the main Outlook window and select Settings. Choose the Account Info tab and click 'Login as a different user'. Here, you change your password.

You asked:

1) When first using the Outlook plugin, people have to manually authenticate with their domain credentials. Are these credentials automatically updated after changing their password? Or do they have to manually enter these credentials again?

The Secure Mail Plugin has no way of automatically knowing that the password has changed, so the password needs to be changes as described above.

2) When GoAnywhere services syncs domain accounts, does it sync the new passwords as well?

Synchronizing updates the web users in GoAnywhere, but authentication of a password uses the chosen authentication method at the time of login, it does not store the password during account synchronization.
